Rocks on the window sill

My photographs are finally becoming as meaningful to me -- as intertwined with my experience of a place and time -- as my drawings have always been. How did this happen? Perhaps it has something to do with vast improvements in the photographs I take now over those I've taken in the past. Improvements not only in composition (I've learned a few things), but also in my ability to capture what I want to capture, and express what I want to express more accurately. What a relief to finally feel able to take the pictures I want to take after so many years of crappy, disappointing photography efforts. What do you want to learn to do better this year?

I really like this picture. And for me, I was able to start capturing pictures that I liked when I started using a digital camera. The instant feedback on whether or not the photo worked really helped me get better at it (although I'm still not a great photographer, but I do all right). This year I'd love to learn how to better focus my writing. And to use what writing know-how I do have to write something meaningful.

BTW, I LOVED your Paris pictures. When Jason gets done with basketball we should get together so I can hear all about your adventures. Have a good weekend!
